Agricultural & Veterinary Education

Indian India is fast emerging as a preferred destination for agriculture education, specially at post graduate and doctoral level. India is known world over for the quality of teaching, training and research in agricultural and allied sciences as also quality education in animal sciences, dairy and fishery sectors. Alumini from Indian Agricultural Institutions are manning important positions at international level. There are 40 university level institutions and more than 199 colleges offering various courses in Agriculture. Undergraduate programmes are offered in 11 major disciplines and postgraduate programmes are offered in as many as 65 different specialisations. All universities also offer Ph.D. programmes in these specialisations.
The universities offering undergraduate or post graduate courses in Agriculture are under the
control of an apex national body, Indian Council for Agricultural Research, (ICAR), which is
responsible for the promotion and coordination of agricultural research and higher education in various branches of Agriculture and Allied Sciences in the country.

Securing Admission
International students including NRI students opting for agricultural courses in any central or state agricultural university in India can approach Ed.CIL for direct admission.
NRIs wanting to pursue agricultural courses can also appear for the competitive entrance
examinations along with Indian candidates.
NRIs opting for Veterinary courses are essentially required to appear for the common entrance examination along with Indian candidates.
